Reima: Made for Kids on the Move

Reima: Made for Kids on the Move

We’ve recently expanded our offering of children’s outdoor clothing to include Reima, a fantastic Finnish childrenswear brand. We were drawn to Reima as their clothing has huge focus on functionality, safety, sustainability and innovation. By focusing on children’s ever-changing needs from newborns to big kids, Reima provide solutions for parents through thoughtfully designed high quality kit that lasts a lifetime.

Reima’s ethos is to provide children with clothing that allows them to enjoy living an active outdoor childhood, which in turn makes life easier for their parents… which is something we are all about!

Reima’s journey started back in 1944 when they began recycling old army snowsuits into work wear for women and soon began adapting durable material for children’s clothing - a gap in the Finnish market. To prove just how premium the fabric was, a Reima TV ad created in the late 1950s depicted the factory managers’ own sons spinning a grindstone against pant bottoms. Cool, right?!

It was 50 years later, the turn of the millennium, that Reima decided to put its full focus to creating children’s’ clothing.

What’s more, every part of Reima’s production process is responsible with the environment and well-being of children at the forefront of the designs. Transparency is key to Reima and helps them guarantee all products are ethically sourced and created, including animal rights from the brand being fur-free to using Responsible Down Standard feathers in items such as the Jord jacket.

Here in the UK, protection from the rain is essential! The Lampi and Vesi waterproof jackets are PVC-free (PVC creates toxic pollution which can have serious health effects) and not to mention super cute and affordable.

The Virtaus Anti-Bite trousers and Insect Anti-Bite socks have been developed with child safety in mind thanks to an insect-repellent treatment that keeps kids bite-free whilst not harming the wildlife. UV-protection is also a huge part of the spring/summer ranges meaning protection for delicate skin and less lotion in the ocean, reducing the bleaching effect on coral reefs. The Madagaskar swim shirts and Fidzi/Cancun swim shorts are great examples of Reima’s UV protection factor 50+ clothing.
